12 Jul 4th GE.L. LAMIAS: Moments of our work on E.U.R.E.K.A. Project (Students work)
– We installed a weather station powered by a solar panel. The Vantage connect modem connected to the station allows the data delivered by the sensors to circulate by wifi through the Weatherlink.com application.
We were therefore able to configure the software to have real-time access to the weather conditions of the high school wirelessly either on PC via the Weather Link application. The site allowed us to study meteorological variables in order to define curves with Excel and to determine the static characteristics for each parameter (Average value, Max Val, Min Val, …) over a given period (1 day, 1 week, 1 month).
-To work with students we divided the class into five groups -One group took care of the data download from the control unit and put them in a template for excel -One group downloaded pollutant data from the internet -One group did the charts relating to the climatic variables taken from the school weather station -One group did the charts for the pollutants from the internet. One group had the task of taking the two works made by the other four groups of children and merging them into a single study.
Once all the graphs had been prepared, we had a series of lessons on the salient aspects of the climate of our city.
Of course all students actively participated in the data processing process.
We finished studying the data of the meteorological station, made the comparisons by making the graphs and then with the help of the computers we answered the questions of the questionnaire for the second time. The first was at the beginning of the program 1.5 years ago.
